Every time something bold and daring is announced you get some group of pensioners thinking that their opinion matters more than mine. Well let me tell you this, they’re wrong.

Just because they spend all their time writing to newspapers filling up the opinions page with their outdated right wing authoritarian rubbish doesn’t mean that any other opinion is a minority, if anything it means the opposite.

Us in the true majority know we are in a majority and don’t waste our time writing to newspapers to tell them that our opinion is right.

Until now that is.

It’s the same with anything in politics though. You never hear anyone writing to their local rag telling them how great their local hospital was do you? Or how their bus arrived on time and had plenty of clean, empty seats? You only ever hear old people moaning about it even if there isn’t actually a problem.

“Oh we may have brand new buses with air conditioning and electrically adjustable seats but in 5 years time they won’t look so nice. They’ll look as tatty as the next bus. They’d have been better of spending the money bleaching the sewers.”

And if they get bored of doing that they have the nerve to go and complain about the good old days.

“Remember rationing? God it was better than all this crap you get today. I think they should re introduce it. You wouldn’t have so many fat kids.”

Old people are meant to set an example so maybe we should follow it.

I think we should all stop whatever it is we are doing – be it working, studying or lazing around on the dole – and spend all our time writing to newspapers voicing our opinions.

Perhaps then all those old people would finally shut up.
